Geocache Description:

Have fun paddling?
Be sure to give the BARGE caches some FAVORITES!

This cache: You're just going to have to look for this one.

Welcome to the BARGE - Baytown Aquatic Run Geocaching Experience on Cedar Bayou.

This series extends from Roseland Park up past 146. You can put in or pull out at Roseland Park, at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church or at JC Hollaway Park at the far end. Launching at Roseland, zig-zagging across the bayou, and pulling out at JC Hollaway Park is over 7 miles of paddling.

This series will get you all of your D-stars for 5T, and X different cache icons. Do not skip out on the puzzle! Work it beforehand or use your phone on the water. It's easy.

NOTE:
  • Check the tide and the wind. If the wind is blowing from the north it may be very shallow and getting some of these may be difficult.
  • Bring sunscreen! Even if it's cloudy.
  • Bring a hat - especially in summer. Even when it's cloudy
  • Bring lots of bottled water or power drinks!
  • Wear a PFD / Lifejacket. Always.
  • Boats bigger than you have the right-of-way because: physics.
  • This series can be gotten by almost any form of water-craft, from kayak to motor boat, depending on the tides.
  • Cary's Bayou (along the northern end of the series) is posted to accommodate a '5ft draft', but is a 'no-wake' zone.

There are no geocaching.com attributes for barges, tug boats, etc. Watch out for them and don't try to cross in front of them!

Never been in a kayak or canoe? Yes - you can do these fun caches! You can rent one. You can borrow one. Maybe the CO will even let you sit on his dinghy! You never know. The learning curve is minimal. Feel free to contact me through my geocaching.com profile if you need ideas, help, or advice on how to get started.
