Gateway Tamarack Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LoonieGator: I stopped by this morning while on a bicycle/ trailer ride with my 1yr old. The cache was missing, but I found it on the ground. Decided to archive this cache as the Gateway Trail was rerouted and the area in the cache area has really become trashy/ sleazy. I felt uneasy in the area anyway. Thanks to all who visited!

Geocache Description:

A quick and easy find along a quiet section of the Gateway Trail near mile post one.

I've been wanting to investigate this section of the Gateway since construction has had it closed for a couple seasons. I found a map on the MnDot website and was fun to ride the new tail down to University and L'Orient. Its about 1.75 south of this cache. Along the way I spotted this tamarack tree near a small wetland area. I was surprised to see this type of tree this far south and stopped to take a look. Decided this needed a cache. The old Gateway bridge over 35E is no more, but L'Orient and Arlington can now be used to connect the Gateway sections.
