Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates. See extended description for history of this location and how to solve for final coordinates. BYOP.

The Coon Rapids Dam provided electric power generation to the area between 1914 and 1966. Initial funding was approved in 1911 and construction began in 1913, which required 42,000 cubic yards of concrete and the work of one thousand men. Construction was completed in 1914. The arrival of the dam workers caused an economic and population boom to the area, which was also partly due to the availability of electricity.

By 1966, the dam was no longer cost effective, largely due to the cost of maintenance and the advantages of coal power. The site was donated to the Hennepin County Park Reserve in 1969 and was turned into a public park in 1978. By 1995, the site had fallen into severe disrepair. Major repairs were made in 1997 and other repairs continued through the early 2000s.

Between 2010 and 2014, upgrades were made to the dam's gates, hydraulics and spillways as a means to create a barrier to the invasive Asian carp.

Today it is a bustling public space that offers many amenities from fishing, to picnic structures, to playgrounds, and miles of walking/biking trails. If you park on the Coon Rapids side, there is an entrance fee (Anoka/Washington/Carver County permits allowed). Many people will park on the streets to the North of the park and walk to it, if a parking fee is a concern. There is no entrance fee on the Champlin side.

The final for this multi is not in the park, but it is on the Coon Rapids side, FYI.

This is a two stage multi. To start, go to the posted coordinates, there is a sign on the West side of the bridge that contains the information you need. To calculate the final:

Assume N45 08.ABC W093 18.XYZ

On the block of text on the sign that begins with: "The Mississippi River is..." there are three sets of numbers.

ABC = the set of numbers that are spelled out in word format, add 325.
XYZ = the last set of numbers in this same paragraph, add 528.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
