I was grading papers, sitting in my dining room when I heard a terrible crash right outside my house. I rushed to the door to find a car had run right through the mailbox, hit the light post, and kept going just a bit further. By the time I got outside a woman was sitting on the sidewalk too stunned to cry. A little girl was sitting in the car, looking around from her carseat. The woman had fallen asleep at the wheel. Thank goodness no one was hurt. We have a new mailbox and a new light pole, but some things will never be the same. Lesson learned.
