2017 marks Canada's 150th birthday celebration. The Canada 150 official logo shown here is composed of a series of diamonds, or “celebratory gems” arranged in the shape of the iconic maple leaf.
Four diamonds at the base represent the original founding provinces: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They were the four provinces that formed Confederation in 1867. Nine more diamonds extend out from the base, representing provinces and territories. The logo represents the 13 provinces and territories that now make up Canada.
This cache is located at a fitting spot -- a crossroads of different paths all converging as one, just as the various provinces and territories of Canada have come together as one strong country.
