Did you know Union, Illinois is home to the award-winning McHenry County History Society and Museum?

Founded in the mid-1960s, the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum has expanded from relatively small organization with meager collection; to an organization with several historic properties and a current collection count well into the thousands. All visitors, young and old, are welcome to come and learn about the unique history that makes up McHenry County!

Enjoy walking around the Museum grounds and take a look at the one-room school and pioneer cabin; both of which are from the 1800s! Learn more about the native plants in the garden, or sit down on a bench and enjoy a book from the "Little Free Libarary."

Geocachers should be on the look out for a clear storage box not far from the wooden walking paths. Visitors are asked to be respectful of the Museum and its affiliated buildings. There is no alcohol or smoking allowed on the grounds. The Museum's hours of operation are Tuesday-Frinday, 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
