Geocache Description:

On December 19, 2012 our family was shaken to the core when my Grandpa passed away.  Cancer that started in the liver and ravaged a 75 year old man who was so active...you may have had him as a handyman (his name was Peter)-->thats what kept him active and strong.

Diagnosed in mid- July...he faded fast...

My Grandpa was born in the small fishing village of Barachois in the Gaspe Region of Quebec.  Situated midway between the Town of Gaspe and Perce (Famous for Perce Rock or Rocher Perce).  This same town is where I spent my summers growing up, and every other Christmas and still visit often as we have a home there as well.

He migrated to Toronto as a teen with his Dad, and siblings after the death of his Mom at an early age.  There he later met, and married my Nanny.  The later had 3 children, the middle one being my Mom.

He worked at many companies, including a tire company, then retiring from a heavy machinery manufacturer.

In retirement, he enjoyed drives in the country up north with my grandmother, spending time with and helping out his family however he could.  His one memorable saying was: "I may not be rich in money, but I am very rich in family."  He also kept active by doing odd jobs as a handyman across Toronto. Cutting down trees, building things, whatever you needed done he was the man!!!  A self taught guitar player, he enjoyed country music his faves being Hank Williams Senior, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard and more.  My grandfather was also a master at woodworking.  He crafted his wares with such precision and attention to detail.

Being the first of 5 granddaughters, I was quite spoiled, and enjoyed going to various restaurants for breakfast on the weekends with my grandpa.  During sleepovers at my grandparents I fondly remember that he made theeeeee best poached, or over-easy eggs lol!  He was the one who at 16 taught me how to drive, hence why I am a Queen at navigating the side streets of Scarborough ROTFL.

My grandfather is one of my most favourite people, and holds a very special place in my heart.  To this day, I still have not really come to grips with his passing, placing this cache has taken some time for me to do, as I don't come here often.  This cache is placed further away from his resting spot in the building to the West of the cache.

Enjoy the hunt! Thanks for taking the time to find this cache!
