If it's been a while since last discovered you might feel a little bit like Indiana Jones with the bugs! An introductory cache accessible from the car park as a gentle encouragement to consider the stroll to the top of Hydon's Ball and the HB cache series, or perhaps across the road and down in to Juniper Valley. (For those with poor phone reception - focus your efforts in the car park and look out for this distinct item - "Among the many fallen, stands one proud stump").
The wood is large and hilly, but with beautiful views from the top of Hydon's Ball. The area is good for mountain biking as a family, running, or walking (although the kids will occasionally grumble / disagree). Hydons Ball is a large National Trust area, with readily available parking and road access. Sometimes known as Hydon Ball, or Cup Hill, it is now in the care of the National Trust. At its highest point is a large stone seat which was placed there in 1915 as a memorial to Octavia Hill, one of the Trust's founders along with a stone triangulation point used in the creation of OS Maps. Watch out for deer, fox, rabbits, bears (just kidding), be aware of muggles and please place the cache back carefully where you found it GEOCACHING ON NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK
