Geocache Description:


Ernstas Vilhelmas Berbomas (Wilhelm Ernst Beerbohm, 11 March 1786, Bernsteinbruch, cur. Klaipėda region – 20 February 1865, Peilė, Šilutė district). Today, many associate Wilhelm Ernst Beerbohm with occurrence of wooden ship weathervanes in the lagoon. He is one of the most prominent researchers and promoters of the XIX century local history and ethnography of the littoral, who were interested in local history, ethnic and cultural heritage, recorded folklore by local fishermen, fishing craft traditions, described and explored areas of interest, was interested in legends and stories of the region.

 

Ernstas Vilhelmas Berbomas (Wilhelm Ernst Beerbohm, 1786 m. kovo 11 d. Bernsteinbruche, dab. Klaipėdos dalis – 1865 m. vasario 20 d. Peilėje, Šilutės r.)Šiandien daugelis E. V. Berbomą sieja su Kuršmarių medinių laivų vėtrungių atsiradimu. Jis vienas iškiliausių XIX a. pr. Pamario krašto istorijos bei etnografijos tyrinėtojų ir puoselėtojų, kuris domėjosi krašto istorija ir etnokultūriniu palikimu, užrašinėjo ir fiksavo vietinių žvejų tautosaką, žvejybos amato tradicijas, tyrinėjo ir aprašinėjo vietoves, domėjosi krašto legendomis bei pasakojimais.
