Geocache Description:

The Northern Waterthrush (Parkesia noveboracensis) sings its loud, ringing song from wooded swamps and bogs. It is a small songbird with a brown back, creamy or whitish underside with dark stripes, and a whiteish or yellowish eye stripe. They breed in thickets near slow-moving streams, ponds, swamps, and bogs like the one here. In migration and winter, they use a variety of wooded habitats, generally near water. They eat insects, arthropods, snails, and occasionally small fish, feeding mainly on the ground, and occasionally by wading in shallow water. The nest is an open cup of moss and leaves, lined with fine plant stems, rootlets, hair, and moss. May construct entranceway of whole dead leaves. Nest placed in small hollow or cavity under fallen log, or within roots of an upturned tree.

The cache is along a seasonal road that is not plowed during the winter.
