The first time I saw Rush was the Farewell to Kings Tour in 1977 at the Saskatoon Arena. Alex Lifeson stood on the left as I faced the stage. He had a white fur rug on his half on which he would prance about playing his guitar. Most recently I saw them at Credit Union Centre on Sept. 28, 2012 for the Clockwork Angels Tour. No white carpet but a fantastic show to say the least.
Geddy Lee was born Gary Lee Weinrib. His parents were Jewish Holocaust survivors from Poland who had survived the ghetto in their hometown Starachowice, followed by their imprisonments at Dachau and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps, during the Holocaust and World War II.
They were about 13 years old when they were initially imprisoned at Auschwitz concentration camp, close to the same age as Anne Frank at that time.
Geddy's Mom would call Gary and his friend's said it sounds like "Geddy" he has officially changed his first name to Geddy.
The Starman emblem (also known as the 'Man in the Star' logo) was adopted by Rush fans as a logo since its first appearance on the back cover of 2112. It is also featured on the Canada Post stamp honouring Rush issued 19 July 2013.
