Geocache Description:


The Hagerstown Cultural Trail connects two of our city’s most popular destinations -the downtown Arts & Entertainment District with City Park and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. With public art experiences, gathering spaces, and other amenities along the way, the Trail will become a destination for visitors in itself.

Take sculptor and public art maker Richard Deutsch, for example. An established artist with a 30-year career in sculpture, Deutsch received highly competitive awards from the American Academy in Rome and the National Endowment for the Arts. He was born in Los Angeles and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

“POD is a quiet sculpture that will integrate well within the natural setting around the lake. In both directions it will signal as sense of arrival as well as a marker of departure. It is a sculpture that will invite interaction and creative play. POD is contemplative and thought provoking while creating an anchor or punctuation for an already majestic environment. This site for POD is a perfect marriage of art and environment. I believe the public will fully embrace POD and its new location.”
