"Joyride" is a song by the Swedish pop duo Roxette. Written by Per Gessle, it was released as the lead single from their third studio album, Joyride. It became one of Roxette's biggest hits, and was one of the most successful singles of 1991, topping record charts across Europe, as well as in Australia, Canada and the United States.
In 2002, after fainting at home, Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with brain cancer. During her rehabilitation she continued to make music, resulting in the album The Change. She later reunited with Gessle to record more Roxette albums, embarked on a worldwide tour and continued to record as a solo artist in her native Sweden.
On 18 April 2016, Roxette announced that a planned 30th anniversary summer tour had been cancelled as per the advice of Fredriksson's doctors.
I was fortunate to see them at Credit Union Centre, Saskatoon on February 20, 1992. A high energy concert which I fondly remember as one of my favourites.
