The 950 acres of Warriors' Path State Park is more than just around the Fort Patrick Henry Reservoir, Duck Island, playground, and the golf course. There is a network of trails to explore deeper into the park.
The geocache is located along the 2.5-mile Devil’s Backbone Trail, which extends from Fall Creek Road to Childress Ferry Road. It is very close to the latter end, so add another difficulty star if you start from the former. Childress Ferry Road has its own challenge with a bridgeless stream crossing. Do not ford if high water after recent heavy rains. The gravel parking area is also small and narrow.
The container is classic Tupperware hidden in the woods, so employ your high technology and geosense to locate it. The trail has lots of poison ivy growing along in places, but you will be good if staying on the path. This placement is also a CITO with many grocery bags of trash already hauled out, so please be prepared to carry out a few more drink containers carelessly tossed in the park.
Tennessee State Park Geocache Placement application on file and approved by Possumcop, the local ranger. Per the current WPSP intentions, this geocache will only be in the field from Saturday, June 10th event through May 2018, thus find it in your own season of opportunity.
