Modern humans are Homo Sapiens, the only extant variant of Hominins which are characterised by their bipedal stature, complex brains and manual dexterity. The human population is around 7.5 billion and the rate of growth is increasing. This has given rise to efforts to limit the future impact of population growth on Earth.
