Geocache Description:

“The Gnome’s Playground”

As you head east from Chester on the A54, motorists encounter a fork in the road where many vehicles pass at high speed. For those heading to the Third Gnome Games, they need to keep on the main road to Northwich, which actually becomes the A556. For those going to the Chillaxing in Cheshire event, or to camp, they need to take the right fork to Winsford & Middlewich, which actually remains as the A54.

As these are main fast roads, it is very easy to take the wrong fork. This isn’t a problem as soon afterwards there a small road between the A54 and A556 that you can use to get back on the right road. Additionally, and not known by many, there is the Gnomes Playground down here.

The Gnomes love to climb trees and swing from the branches, and if you pull into the lay-by on this short road, you may just be lucky enough to see them playing. You’ll have to be very quiet as they will hide if they hear you coming! Even if they have hidden, you may still find the cache that they left whilst playing here.

Luckily you do not need to climb any trees like the Gnomes, but you’ll have to look up and reach. Please ensure that it is replaced as found after you have signed the logbook

Then you just need to remember which way you want to go, on the A556 to Northwich (and the Third Gnome Games), or the A54 to Winsford and Middlewich, and the Chillaxing in Cheshire event with nearby camping.
