Besides marking parking for the rail trail, this park and grab is not only new for the Celebrate Sanford/Springvale Trails Geocaching Event III (July 23, 2017) but also is a sincere thank you to the road crew who paved part of the shoulder/entrance to the trail; and to Lionel Sevigny and his crew who installed the fencing and made the entrance past the gate much safer.
When I was very young, my parents called this area of Hanson's Ridge Rd. "The Dip", hence the name for this cache. The railroad tracks went through this valley between Hanson's Ridge and Deering Ridge. I've heard reports of great sledding and tobaggoning down this hill in years gone by, but have never been able to confirm it!
This is a typical park and grab to get cachers started on either side of the road. Please bring your own pen and watch out for poison ivy!
