Geocache Description:

Royal Oak, County Carlow.

Once upon a time there was a young man named Seamus who lived with his little old mother in a farm house at the end of a lane. The family didn't have much money as the land was also poor like them. Seamus would do odd jobs to make money but was pretty useless at most things. Times were getting desperate so the mother sent Seamus into Carlow with Daisy to sell her. Daisy was there '92 red Ford Escort.

He went to Carlow but could not sell Daisy, the mother wanted 780 but she wasn't worth more than 500.On the way home he saw a sign for strawberries for sale on the side of the road. He stopped to buy some as he was hungry after his long day. As he bought his strawberries he told the man all about his problems. The man listened and comforted him. The man said to Seamus that he was looking for a car so he could go into Carlow for the disco dances. Seamus told him it was 780. The man agreed but gave him 780 seeds. Not strawberry seeds but magic strawberry seeds.

Seamus realised he'd made a mistake but had shook hands on the deal. He knew his mother didn't even like strawberries. He went home and told his mother what had happened. She went mental. She got all the seeds and threw them on the ground. Seamus went to bed so disappointed in himself. When he woke up the next morning something unusual had happened. A tree stump had grown where the seeds had been thrown. Not a beanstalk, not strawberries, not even a full tree. Seamus told his mother what had happened and she couldn't believe how lucky they were. Seamus didn't understand why she thought they were so lucky.

The mother explained that under the Sale Of Goods Act 1980, the goods must be sold as advertised. The man said he sold Seamus 'magic strawberry' seeds but he had sold him 'magic tree stump' seeds. The mother was successful in bringing the man to the small claims court where she got her car back, money to remove the stump and money to repair the damage it had caused to the ground.

The stump stands as a reminder to all - Let the buyer beware!!!!!! ..and always ask for a receipt.
