IPIM (Interesting People I've Met - while geocaching) - Will Fehres
On a recent forage for caches in and around Esk, I had the pleasure of meeting Will and his beautiful partner Kathryn.
Over the course of our chats, I learnt that Will is proficient in and shares his knowledge of Meditation, Yoga, Tai Chi and the Martial Arts with others. He is also the proud owner of a nearby establishment that he proudly built himself!!
But that is not what this cache is about!!
With a love of music, I found Will's recollections of his music career particularly interesting. As I found out, Will was a founding member of "THE CHANGING TIMES", a popular Melbourne live band formed in 1965.The original band members were Allan James (bass), Allan Elliot (drums), Barry Gallagher (guitar) and Willy Fehres a.k.a. Billy Masters (lead guitar).
For the music buffs, in 1967 Gary Young and Wayne Duncan, later of Daddy Cool, joined the The Changing Times. The band broke up when keyboardist Jenny Johnston and vocalist Alex Opitz (aka Kadell) left for The Dream (later The New Dream).
The Changing Times' standout singles were 'Mary Lou' and 'Wonderful, Wonderful' which charted in 1965 on the RCA label.
Of even more importance was Will's influence in working with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel and a young Keith Urban.
At the cache location, enjoy the view looking over the Wivenhoe Dam lake. The pick times to visit would be early morning or late afternoon with the sun on the water.
There is no need to enter any properties. The hide is located in a small stand of bush next to the road. It should be a quick park and collect, unless you're staying to admire the view!!
