Severn Beach village was created as a seaside resort with a swimming pool called the Blue Lagoon, a boating lake and the infamous Beach Comber Strip Club, as well as cafes and amusements. It was very popular with people from nearby Bristol, particularly because of the good railway links.
In recent years the attractions we enjoyed in our childhood have all disappeared to make way for housing as the village moves towards commuter town status, with people using its rail and road links to work in Bristol and elsewhere.
However there are still some pleasant walks and views along the sea wall, which forms part of the Severn Way long distance path.
