You are looking for a medium size clip lock box. This cache is placed under and towards the rear of a beach hut at Friars Cliff beach with the permission of the beach hut owner and Christchurch Council.
Paid for parking is available 100m away from the cache site and to make your visit worthwhile there is a café 100m along the promenade.
This award-winning beach, near Christchurch, is a good choice for families looking for somewhere to paddle in the gentle waves and admire the lovely views and is usually a bit less crowded than nearby Avon Beach. The beach is mainly sand although patches of shingle bring added interest.
The beach is backed by a promenade featuring attractive beach huts and gives easy access to the beach for pushchairs and visitors with mobility problems.
The facilities here and water quality are good, and the presence of a lifeguard in summer make the beach popular with those looking to take a dip on warm sunny days.
From the beach it is possible to take a clifftop walk through the 24-acre Steamer Point Nature Reserve to 19th century Highcliffe Castle.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach in front of the huts from May through to September however they are allowed on Highcliffe Beach (50m to the east of the cache) throughout the year.
When placed the cache contained three small water pistols, a couple of balls and a tube of bubbles – ideal for playing on the beach. Please trade fairly.
Ruby inspecting the cache before placing.
I have also left ‘The Old Beach Hut’ travel bug to start its journey around the British coast (or further) visiting other beach huts.
Due to its location please beware of muggles. Please make sure the lid is clipped back on correctly and the cache is replaced as found and out of site. This hut is often rented out but whoever is using it will be made aware of the cache.
