Geocache Description:

Not for the timid. This steep, well used, self-guided trail wends its way up the south slope of Arrow Mountain (Goat Mountain to the local people). The trail is a fairly arduous climb for about 2.5 km to the top. The cache is located about half-way to the top at an altitude of 4550 ft. Arrow mountain is about 5000 ft. The cache is in a white plastic Tupperware serving tray with a plastic cover. Allow yourself a good couple of hours for this hike.

Hike through a mixed forest of Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, Ponderosa Pine, White Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Western Larch, Aspen, and Spruce. The rare mountain orchid, the Lady's Slipper, flowers in May and June. Many other plants grow along the pathway. Be sure to use one of the brochures found in the registration box near the start of the trail.

You will probably see sign of deer, and elk along the trail, and trees where bears have left their mark.

To get to the trailhead: Turn East off Highway 3A on the Lakeview - Arrow Ck road and wend your way up until you get to Foster Road at 2.3 km. Turn right on Foster. Follow the main road, always taking the right fork when you come to any forks in the road, for about another 6.5 km.

Just past the 4 km sign you may find an active logging operation. On weekends there should be no activity, but proceed cautiously. Here you will find one of the best views of the Creston Valley. Grab your camera. Find the trailhead just around the bend after the 6 km sign. Altitude 3780 feet. N49 06.718 W116 29.497.
