About the Wyoming County Geo-Trail:
This geotrail consists of 12 caches hidden throughout Wyoming County and is designed to delight and entertain you while showcasing the many beautiful, interesting and historic things Wyoming County offers. To complete the trail and claim glorious victory, you should:
- Find at least 10 of the 12 caches
- Scribble down the unique code word you find in each cache
- Visit the Wyoming County Tourism website to enter the code word with its corresponding cache
- If you have 10 code words correct, sit back, relax and wait to get your limited edition/super collectible WyCoGT wooden nickel
- Brag to all your friends about your geo-awesomeness
About this cache:
The starting coordinates will take you to an interesting place in the woods where there used to be a roadway in this area many years ago. There is still a gate and an old fence there. At this location you need to find a camouflaged matchstick container that only gives the NORTH coordinates to the final. There are also instructions as to where to find the WEST coordinates to the final in this container. There is a direction and a distance on the back of the instructions if you would like to try your letterboxing skills.
Once you find the west coordinates which will be a metal tag attached to a large tree, you will then have the coordinates you need to go to the final, which is very well hidden. Please make every effort to hide this as well as it has been placed!
At every stage of this cache, you will be hiking the Wyoming County boundary line, and while you explore we hope you enjoy this interesting and beautiful section of forest!
