Derwent Valley Wander
A river and woodland circular wander from Shotley Bridge up river to Allensford and back again, the paths are generally good walking if a bit up and down but in wet weather will be muddy in places.Some sections are very close to the river and it would be advisable not to attempt during times of flood. There is a footbridge close to either waypoint parking spot, cross over and make your way to the cache furthest down river to start, any directions given will be from here.
A choice of paths here but as a general rule keep left to follow the river,you will soon reach a derelict building that you may have seen while on the other side of the river,the path appears to go straight on but I found an easier place to cross the stream a little to the right, once over there go straight up the bank to this cache, you will find another path just beyond which will take you back down again.
