Geocache Description:

Derwent Valley Wander

A river and woodland circular wander from Shotley Bridge up river to Allensford and back again, the paths are generally good walking if a bit up and down but in wet weather will be muddy in places. Some sections are very close to the river and it would be advisable not to attempt during times of flood. There is a footbridge close to either waypoint parking spot, cross over and make your way to the cache furthest down river to start, any directions given will be from here.

Keep following the path along the river until you come to a point where two paths meet just before a stream bed, your gps will be pointing away from the river maybe even a little back on itself, don't cross the stream but follow it uphill and have a look at the gully created by what appears to be a benign trickle at the river, the power of nature always amazes me, you will find the cache on a bend in this gully, the terrain is more open here and you'll see a more obvious way down. BYOP and tweezers
