Leta 1851 je grof Franc Anton Kolovrat Liebsteinski kupil ob poti iz Dobrne proti Hudičevem grabnu graščino Dobrnica, (mimo katere se peljete) in jo preuredil v pivovarno. Jamo Ledenica - Birkeler so takrat ročno izklesali, saj so jo potrebovali za skladiščenje piva, v njej pa so shranjevali tudi led iz bližnjih ribnikov. Tako je dobila ime Ledenica, med domačini pa je znana tudi kot "Birkeler".
Pot do jame ni težka, je pa to izhodišče in prva točka gozdne učne poti Dobrna: Narava in mi, ki ima skupaj 10 točk skozi sotesko Drenovec na Brdce. Ta je v celoti dolga 2800m. Pot do 1.točke pa je kratka od asfaltne ceste, kjer se parkira pri smerokazih pred mostom proti Hudičevem grabnu.
Ko stojite pred njo, si zamislite, kako bi izgledalo, če bi bila danes polna glede na svojo velikost :)
In 1851, the Czech nobleman and Austrian statesman Count Franz Anton of Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky bought the Dobrnica Castle (Guteneck), which lies on the road from Dobrna to Hudičev (Devil's Crag), where you will pass when you go to the starting point. The Count had the castle transformed into a beer brewery, which by the way is one of the oldest in Slovenia. The Ledenica cave was created by human hands and turned into a storage room for ice to cool beer from the beer brewery in Dobrnica Castle. Hence the Slovenian name Ledenica (ice cave), it is also called Birkeler (beer cellar). The way to the cave is easy. The cave is also the starting point of the 2800-meter Narava in mi Trail (Nature and Us), which leads through the Gorge Drenovec to the settlement Brdce nad Dobrno and has a total of 10 stations. The short way to the first station starts at the asphalt road at the signpost in front of the bridge over the Hudičev graben, where you can also park.
When you stand in front of the cave, imagine what it would look like if this hand-crafted cave was full of ice and beer. Well, did you get thirsty? ;-)
Im Jahr 1851 kaufte der tschechische Adelige und österreichische Staatsmann Graf Franz Anton von Kolowrat-Liebsteinsky das am Weg von Dobrna Richtung Hudičev graben (Teufelsgraben) liegende Schloss Dobrnica (Guteneck), an dem ihr vorbeikommt, wenn ihr euch zum Ausgangspunkt begebt. Der Graf ließ das Schloss in eine Bierbrauerei umgestalten, die übrigens eine der ältesten in Slowenien ist. Die Höhle Ledenica wurde von Menschenhand geschaffen und in einen Lagerraum für Eis verwandelt, um darin das Bier aus der Bierbrauerei im Schloss Dobrnica zu kühlen. Daher auch der slowenische Name Ledenica (Eishöhle). Im Volksmund wird sie auch Birkeler (Bierkeller) genannt. Der Weg zur Höhle ist leicht zu bewältigen. Die Höhle ist auch Startpunkt des 2800 Meter langen Waldlehrpfades Narava in mi (Die Natur und wir), der durch die Schlucht Drenovec zur Siedlung Brdce nad Dobrno führt und insgesamt 10 Stationen hat. Der kurze Weg bis zur 1. Station beginnt an der Asphalt-Straße beim Wegweiser vor der Brücke über den Teufelsgraben, wo ihr auch parken könnt.
Wenn ihr vor ihr steht, stellt euch doch mal vor, wie es aussehen würde, wenn diese von Hand geschaffene Höhle voller Eis und Bier wäre. Na, schon Durst bekommen? ;-)
