Sleepy Hollow State Park, located in Clinton County 20 minutes north of Lansing, contains more than 2,600 acres and is situated on Price Road off from US-27 near St. Johns and Laingsburg. A river winds its way through the woods and fields of the park, and Lake Ovid is nestled in the middle of it all. Lake Ovid, covering 410-acres, was developed by damming the Little Maple River. The park offers year-round opportunity for recreation.
More than 228 species have been recorded in Sleepy Hollow, from the common Blue Jay to the Eastern Bluebird. During migration, look for waterfowl in Lake Ovid. The rarely recorded Bonaparte's Gull or Bald Eagle also have been sighted.

We will be gathering at the South Beach Pavilion to give out event cache coordinates and draw for first-to-find rights. At least 40 caches will be placed for this event, all located within the park. All caches will be lock & lock or similar type containers. They will vary in size and difficulty, some of the terrain may be difficult. A Geo-caching 101 class will be held at 10 a.m. for beginners. The course will cover all the aspects of geo-caching, how to use a GPS to find caches, the different types of caches, how they are hidden and how to become a member of the geo-caching community. Special kids caches were such a great hit in the past, so we are bringing them back this year. At least 5 caches will be placed for the Micro-Cachers only. They will be placed near the main event area.
Coffee and donuts will be provided for the morning gathering. Following a morning of caching we will gather back at the pavilion at 1 p.m. for a potluck lunch and a chance to share the day’s adventures with each other. Please bring a large dish to pass and your own beverage. We have decided not to assign groups of people to bring specific dishes. Instead we want you to bring your favorite dish. Please post a note to the event to let us know how many are in your group so we have plenty of hot dogs. Also include what you will be bringing so we won’t have all of one dish.
(NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED)
HOT DOGS,, PLATES, NAPKINS AND TABLE SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED
