ABRAMS Offset Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Christiansen: Although the physical cache is not located on property owned by the Abrams trust or any member of the Abrams family, the benchmark and the posted coordinates are. And although it is not necessary to cross the fence to view the benchmark or to conduct the projection necessary to find the cache, both benchmark hunters and cachers will be tempted to do so. The fact that the cache is based on the benchmark and that the benchmark (as well as the posted coordinates) are on the Abrams private property, and that the Abrams have expressed a desire that no cachers come to their property, that is enough to warrant the cache be archived.

Geocache Description:

***This is an offset cache***

It is not located at the posted coordinates. You will need to project a new waypoint from stage 1.

As a bonus, you will also find a benchmark.

No throwdowns, please.

Stage 1. The posted coordinates will take you to ABRAMS (MS0714), a 1972 USGS earthquake research station. About 46 feet east and 54 feet west, you will see the reference mark disks to the main disk.

Stage 2. To find the cache, from the posted cordinates, project a new waypoint with a bearing of 62.8° at a distance of 638.2 feet.

Don't forget to log a find for the benchmark in the benchmark section of Geocaching.com.
