James Buchanan is the only bachelor ever to serve as President in the White House James Buchanan had an unusual eyesight problem, one eye was nearsighted and the other eye was farsighted. In an attempt to aid the problem he often cocked his head to one side and closed one eye James Buchanan is the only President that was born in Pennsylvania Historians have rated James Buchanan as the least effective out of all the presidents Over 20,000 people lined the streets during his funeral procession. James Buchanan is buried at Woodward Hill Cemetery
