Cedar Cottage Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

nextlogicalstep: I think I'd like to see a new geocache in the park. Rather than replace this one, I'd like to open the area up for something new.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small, round camo'ed lock&lock container big enough for a few small tradable items.

This quiet park doesn't get a lot of traffic. The playground equipment is older, it's not far from the larger, more popular China Creek South, and it doesn't even show up as a park on many maps. This makes it perfect for when you are looking for a quiet spot in the city to sit on the grass and read a book. The park has a few benches, a picnic table, basketball courts, playground equipment, and a large grassy area.

According to the City of Vancouver, this site used to be a ravine that was used as a dump. In the mid 70s, the Park Board filled in the ravine and made it into a small, neighbourhood park. The name Cedar Cottage Park comes from its location within the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood, an area named for a distinctive cedar home built by British-born Arthur Wilson in 1886. Wilson owned about 35 acres of land near Kingsway and Knight, where in addition to his home, he had a nursery and market garden.

Please be aware that City of Vancouver parks are closed nightly from 10PM to 6AM.

Congrats to Kev_MacD for the FTF!
