Most F-86s were equipped with six machine guns capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute, and the fighter-bomber version could carry up to 2,000 pounds worth of bombs. Rockets and cannons were also used. The transonic jet was first delivered in 1951 and it became so successful that several countries produced it under license. Nearly 10,000 F-86s of various kinds were produced and the airplane saw use in air forces around the world until it was finally retired in Bolivia in 1994.
