This cache is apart of a series I started with tjhaarer involving the West Virginia back rounds here in the Lost River area. As a young child many of these roads and places have served for making wonderful memories, whether it was bicycling during the summer or hiking a road to a fishing hole in the spring. I still travel these roads today and relish the memories created decades ago and wanted to create a cache series to celebrate those memories made and so many stories told from traveling on these back roads.
The West Virginia Country Roads Cach #1 is one that runs deep for me. This cache is placed right off the Lower Cove Run Road of which I live and have ran my business. But going further back in my past, I grew up riding bikes on this road with my cousin. In fact me and my cousin used to pretend "NASCAR race" from the very spot of this cache! This turn in the road was our starting line and we would race bicycles, side by side, for nearly a mile downhill heading westward towards 259. I won many of those duels, but my cousin won just as many.
So when you stop at this cache, imagine two young teen boys riding their old, beaten up bicycles as fast as they can to reach the invisible finish line and declare victory! Before doing it again and again. :)
Please note, there is no cell service in this area and be sure to pull off from the pavement of the road. There is enough room for one car. The cache is a small 35mm film canister in camo tape. Please return it to it's hiding spot for the next cacher to enjoy! The road is moderately traveled during mid afternoon and evening times.
