This cache is located so one HOPEFULLY will not encounter too many ticks. There are signs which tell some of the history of this part of the plantation which belonged to the Lees of Virginia. There is a nice little parking area for one to have easy access to the signs and to the cache as well. Continue on past here and find the SSB Captain John Smith trail cache, have a picnic, take a hike for other caches and visit the grist mill and pond area where there are more picnic tables.
If you visit on July 4th, each year they have free admission and many activities but not too many for a nice outing for the 4th. Most other days of the year, there is an admission fee of $7.00 for the grounds only and $12.00 if you wish to tour the house.
