John Cochrane:

Survivor: South Pacific (Season 23: 2011), Survivor: Caramoan (Season 26: 2013)

My all-time favourite Survivor player!

A superfan of the series (whilst at Harvard, he wrote a thesis comparing the American jury system to Survivor), Cochran asked that he be referred to only by his last name (acknowledging that Jeff Probst refers to series favourites thus). In South Pacific, he struggled with his social game as he was frequently berated by his tribe, causing him to betray them at the merge. This move did not gain him any lasting leverage in the game, and he was eliminated shortly thereafter.Caramoan saw Cochran emerge as a dominant force, surprising many with his challenge performance and, through his management of several volatile personalities, exerting nearly uninterrupted strategic control over the game. Highlights of his strategy included the use of Phillip Sheppard as a figurehead, a long-term undetected partnership with Dawn Meehan, and the well-timed late-game blindsides of power players and fellow Phillip puppeteers Andrea Boehlke and Brenda Lowe. By unanimous vote, he accomplished his dream of becoming the Sole Survivor, completing one of only two perfect games in Survivor (U.S.) history.
