Situated about 700 metres away from the nearest parking, this location is best accessed by a fairly easy bush bash followed by a short steep descent through long ferns. You could probably get there and back in under an hour but allow plenty of time to explore the area, and do not forget your camera!
There are a few cliffs to negotiate but the given waypoints will provide you with a safe route down and back up.
At the time of placement, a 2wd with good clearance could easily have got to the listed parking coordinates, however be aware that the track conditions can change considerably over time, especially after heavy rain. Unless you have a 4wd then we don't advise the shortest route via Bird's Rock. Instead, carry on along Sunnyside Ridge Rd and turn off at S33° 19.427 E150° 10.837. Follow this track for about 300m, and then turn right towards the suggested parking coordinates at S33° 18.832 E150° 11.767.
From the parking location, head directly west for approximately 500m to S33° 18.788 E150° 11.442, where you will find an easy way down the cliff line. Keep left of the rocky outcrop at S33° 18.775 E150° 11.430 and head down the slope through the long ferns. Be careful as the ground below is uneven and difficult to see. The easiest way is to follow a very faint track close to the bottom of the cliff wall on your right as you are descending.
The GPS signal at GZ is terrible but you will know when you're at the right place! We have included an easy hint so it shouldn't be hard to find. Enjoy!
