Geocache Description:

Welcome to North Uist's first TB Hotel, the Taigh-Òsda Ball-Goilf Mòr (The Big Golf Ball Hotel)!

An easy find with wonderful views, the cache is a 3 litre box with plenty of room for trackables large and small. There is a painted stone for the first-to-find, but please don't put in swappables after this as we want this to be focussed on TBs.

Unfortunately, due to a ditch, wheelchair-bound cachers will need assistance to access this cache.

Welcome to Mr Wilson's TB Hotel. This establisment is designed to cater for any TBs that have a need to rest a while when travelling the world. The pace of life is slower on the Outer Hebrides, so Mr Wilson is not surprised if his guests stay a little longer than they do in equivalent accomodation on the mainland, but he recognises that some will move on quickly too.

This relaxed pace of life allows Mr Wilson to engage in his favourite pastime of golf, and is delighted to be in the shadow of, what he considers to be, a massive golf ball (poor Mr Wilson - it is in fact a radar tracking station, but he doesn't need to know that smiley).

For those not sharing Mr Wilson's sporting passion, the location offers commanding views over the western side of the isle of North Uist and, on a clear day, even out to the islands that make up the famous St Kilda archipeligo. A short trot up the hill from the hotel is a viewing point (Sùil Air Hiort) with a telescope where guests can take a closer look at those distant isles.

All rooms should have excellent mobile reception (due to the telephone masts at the top of the hill).

The hotel benefits from being hidden away out of the sight of the passing tourist and Mr Wilson requests that non-residents respect this and ensure that the cache is replaced exactly where it was found with the appropriate "rock-oflage" replaced.

There is a large log which non-residents are requested to sign. Residents (TBs) should ensure that they both sign in and sign out online to meet local fire regulations (and ensure that owners know when their TBs are on the move).

Mr Wilson was delighted at the opening of the hotel to have stay with him his long-term friend and admirer, Mrs Sozzled Snowdrop. Other guests are welcome to use the bar but are advised not to engage Mrs Sozzled Snowdrop in conversation, if she is resident, as she does have somewhat of a penchant for the drink. Excessive drinking is not encouraged in this hotel due to the long car, plane and boat journeys many residents undertake after leaving.

This TB hotel was set up as North Uist, indeed the Uists in general, had a shortage of containers large enough to enable exchange of TBs. Please ensure you log TBs dropped off or picked up online.

It was also set up to celebrate the second release of Marvin's Mr Wilson, a golf ball TB that we found, moved and released only for it to turn up again in one of our caches. Similarly, Mrs Sozzled Snowdrop was a trackable of ours initially released with Mr Wilson. They languished in a cache together for a while before she too also turned up close to home. It seemed appropriate to release her again at the same time in Mr Wilson's hotel.

If either Mr Wilson or Sozzled Snowdrop are present at the hotel then you are encouraged to help them on their journeys.

Goodbye, Mr Wilson - it has been a pleasure!
