Takashi Murakami
Takashi Murakami is a Japanese contemporary artist who as well as working a variety of high art media like painting and sculpture, works in modern contemporary artforms including fashion, merchandising and animation.
Murakami’s art encompasses a wide range of media and is generally described as superflat. It has been noted for its use of color, incorporation of motifs from Japanese traditional and popular culture, flat/glossy surfaces, and content that could be described at once as “cute,” “psychedelic,” or “satirical”. Among his best known recurring motifs are smiling flowers, iconic characters and mushrooms. We love the smiling flowers of course, because they look like our beloved "found it" icons. His work is in the permanent collection Museum of Modern Art, New York.
The location for this geocache is a nondescript corner of a suburban neighbourhood. One asks why a parkbench was put here other than to enable a future geocache, but here it is. I've put a geocache here in the hope that someone can answer the question, why oh why is there a parkbench here?
