Dowie's Mill was the highest of five mills on the river Almond. It is referred to in a charter of 1697 when it was acquired by John Menzies id Cammo.
Originally a grain mill, it became an iron mill in the industrial revolution and there was a sawmill there too.
It finally was used by a furniture manufacturer until 1934 after which it was occupied by a scrap metal merchant.
The mill wheel was destroyed in a flood in the 1930s and its use as a mill ceased then.
The cache is a blue plastic sealed container.
It is best accessed from the river side.
