Geocache Description:

This is the first in a series of caches located around churches in the Athens Georgia area.

The White church on the hill used to be a landmark for people coming into Athens from Atlanta. They would say find the white brick church and turn at the next major intersection. Today there are many taller cell towers which make the church less visible.

This is a multiple stage cache located at Beech Haven Baptist Church. The church began in 1959 and has about 850 members. Average attendance is 450. Over its history, the church has only had 4 pastors. There are 15 people on the staff. As with most Christian churches they have services on Sunday morning and evening as well as Wednesday evening. Cachers should not attempt to find the cache during these times. The cache is placed with permission of the pastor but it is on private property and we should be respectful of their service times.

Feel free to attend Sunday services while in search of this geocache.

N 33° 56.a W 083° 25.0b The answers to find the location of the first stage are found by a = year church founded - 982 (3 digit number) b = number of members - 785 (2 digit number)

Final Stage: From the First Stage go at a compass heading of 64° for 224 feet to the final stage. (Remember your Scout training: a full adult step is about 3 ft.)

You are looking for a small tube container. When you get to the correct area, your geosenses should put you on the right track. You will need to bring your own pen but no other tools are required at this time.

Be sure to replace the cache back exactly where you found them so others may enjoy the challenge.

Congratulations to Kalaharifox and Lizzybeth 13 as co-FTF.
