Geocache Description:

Welcome to Storybook Land/Wylie Park in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Storybook Land and the Land of Oz are open from April 15 to October 15 each season.

Although L. Frank Baum only lived in South Dakota for three years, the footprint he left behind makes him one of South Dakota’s famous authors. His most famous work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was written during his stay here.

He adapted The Wizard of Oz into a musical show in 1902, which toured the country for nine years.

This cache is the fourth in as series of caches to highlight  songs from The Wizard of Oz movie adaptation of 1939.

"If I Only Had a Brain" (also "If I Only Had a Heart" and "If I Only Had the Nerve") is a song by Harold Arlen (music) and E.Y. Harburg (lyrics). The song is sung in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz by the characters that meet Dorothy. The characters pine about what each wants from the Wizard.

If I Only Had A Brain

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers

Consultin' with the rain.

And my head I'd be scratchin' while

my thoughts were busy hatchin'

If I only had a brain.

I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,

In trouble or in pain.

With the thoughts I'd be thinkin'

I could be another Lincoln

If I only had a brain.

Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore.

I could think of things I never thunk before.

And then I'd sit, and think some more.

I would not be just a nuffin' my head all full of stuffin'

My heart all full of pain.

I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,

If I only had a brain.
