Established in 1845, this country cemetery near Marathon Village, north of Highway 417, serves as the final resting place to many homesteaders and pioneers of this area.
There are few new residents but it was interesting to discover that there is one resident whose estimated age at the time of passing was 101 years! According to a local historian, Hamilton Lowry donated some land to build a church and cemetery. There are in fact two Hamilton Lowrys buried in this cemetery and wonder if they would be father and son. More information on the cemetery and its history can be found by clicking on the "Related Web Page" above.
