Geocache Description:

A giant leap of courage and a small step of faith brought slaves to this 1856 hideout. Imagine as you circle the old cabin what life might have been like back then. Listen to the water's gentle flow. Notice the stepping stones close to your destination. As every goal. You start from the bottom, one step at a time.

History has it that slaves were once hid under the floor in this cabin. One of them was a baby boy, John Brown Daniels, son of escaped slave Jane Daniels. The cabin is Anderson County's tie to the Civil War and what was once known as "Bleeding Kansas". The 1856 Gerth Cabin is the oldest known structure in the county and was saved by locals and moved to its current location. Search the outside of this cabin for a safe place for our cammo cache.
