The ancient pieve of St Genesio, presently in a state of neglect, stand on the outskirts of town along the ancient via Francigena and not far from the province road leading to Vario d’Agogna. The church, mentioned as “capopieve” (the main church of the Pieve) in a document from the 11th century, retained this status until the 14th century. On that period the church had a nave and two aisles, preceded by a porch. The adjoining Baptistery of St John, built to a circular plan, was sadly demolished in the first half of the 19th century. Today the building, north-faced, has a single nave with a deep presbytery. Notable are the blind-arch decorations on the southern wall. On the interior note the ancient sepulchre of the Della Porta family.
