The Hobbit Hole Traditional Cache

ShadowBeardie123: Well- I saw the note from GeoNico19, saying he saw a burned out tree at GZ that looked like it could have been my cache host. So I thought I'd better go and check this out.

When I arrived at GZ, my fears were confirmed. The whole side of the tree was burned from bottom to top, and all over the insides of the tree. I'm not sure what would have caused the fire, but my guess would be a lightening strike.

So- this marks the end of this version of the Hobbit Hole. It was so much fun while it lasted. Time to move on. I attached some pictures of the burn with my phone in case anyone is interested in seeing the damage.

Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Semb for her FTF on this cache. You're brave trekking down the trail at midnight!

This spot reminded me of the Hobbit holes in Lord of the Rings. So I decided to go with that name. Bilbo Baggins would be quite comfy here.

Cache is a camoed pill bottle. Only room for a log, so bring a writing stick to sign in. This is an easy-access hidey hole. After finding, please return cache container so it doesn't fall down. It may be a good idea to have a flashlight or head lamp for access after dark, as the trail may be hard to navigate, and the cache may not be easy to see.

Trail can get quite muddy when it rains. You may want to bring rubber boots. If you prefer a less muddy trek, you can also access the cache area from the east end of the park, down the gravel path. The coordinates will tell you when to cut in.
