Take a Cruise up the Ouse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Inuksuuk: We had a beautiful canoe ride up the Ouse in perfect calm and it's already November. We brought the chainsaw and did use it once but someone else had already been up in here with a chainsaw to clear a path through the first downed tree. Despite how much we enjoyed paddling up in this area, we decided to just archive the caches north of the bridge, and pick up our containers. It's always an obstacle course in here with fallen trees and then strong current in springtime. We just decided we didn't want to do maintenance up in here. That's not to say that we won't come back and paddle in here, just for fun. But we are not going to place geocaches in this section anytime soon.

Geocache Description:

You might be able to get your canoe around the downed tree.... maybe.... I took a small plastic kayak to place this cache.

This section of the Ouse River going north is full of downed trees. There are no rocks or wind to contend with, at least. But there are a lot of mosquitos and manouevering around the downed trees and log jams is not everyone's cup of tea. If you want a nice easy paddle, go south toward Rice Lake instead.

If you do make it to the rest of the caches north of here, you may be rewarded with views of wildlife and the pride of having conquered a true T5.
