Well what have we here? A "geocacher," you say. I don't think I remember geocachers from any of the old lists. I have heard of elves, and dwarves, and even hobbits, but no geocachers. Hoom hoom!
So you want to know where the treasure is hidden, do you? Well, that is quite a long story. In Old Entish it always takes a long time to say things. But let me see if I can condense it down for you and tell the story in your tongue.
Hoom, hoom! The story begins away off north of here, in the land called Warren. Oscar and The Count were visiting The Count's brother. A brother, I should say, because The Count is one of four children in his family. And quite the little rascals they were for their parents, no doubt. Now this brother knew all about geocaching. You may have heard of him -- he goes by "huggermuggers" these days, I have been told. He had found many caches, but Oscar and The Count had found zero. They didn't even know what geocaching was!
So as it happens, there was a family reunion, and The Count's brother was there with his wife. Those two had been doing a lot of geocaching, sometimes seven days a week! Everyone was there for the reunion, including seven of The Count's cousins. He has quite a big family, you know, and that's just his dad's side. Burarum!
The reunion began with brunch at a restaurant in Youngsville. There was much food to be had, though it is always a little tough to find something vegetarian on the menu in these small towns. After brunch, everyone was to convene at The Count's Aunt's house, but she needed some time to prepare. Oscar and The Count ended up with three hours to kill. So they decided to ride around with his brother, who was going out looking for some geocaches.
They began by seeking a cache called "Loyal," GC27PKT. Oscar had never cached before, but she found it within five minutes. Hoom, hoom! This was their introduction to the game, and they were hooked.
Hoom, hoom! Well, after that excitement, they all went back to The Count's aunt's house for the rest of the reunion. They got to hang out with the whole family, including relatives who had come all the way from Texas, and The Count's grandmother, who is over eighty years old.
Now that they had been introduced to geocaching, there was zero chance that Oscar and The Count were going to just forget about it. Oh no! They decided to make one account to share, so that they could easily go out geocaching together and combine their finds.
Once they got going, they noticed they were becoming obsessed with geocaching. They sought out the best parks and trails, and solved some tricky puzzles too. Sometimes they'd get up at seven in the morning and go caching all day (and Oscar is not usually a morning person)! They set themselves a variety of challenges, such as finding a cache every day in a month, or finding seven different cache types in a single day. Burarum!
Eventually they decided to start placing some caches as well. They placed some traditionals first, but then hide number eight was a desk puzzle -- in fact, it was "Gondolin," the first puzzle in this little series to be placed. People seemed to enjoy it, so they decided to hide some more, and come up with more puzzles related to the different peoples of Middle-earth.
Well now! Since I have told you all of the back story of this cache, I suppose you must know where to find it. I won't be able to come with you, since I'm just an old tree, but I do hope you can get a smiley. Burarum!
