Are you looking for a great hike or just the shortest route to the cache? An impressive trail starts at the Long Point Lighthouse parking lot where you can take in the fabulous view from the elevated lookout platform. From here it winds downhill before heading north which gives good views of cliffs and icebergs, in season. It then winds along the coast to Sleepy Cove which was once home to a large copper mining operation and is particularly scenic as it provides grand views of Sleepy Cove Gull Island and the Shag Rocks which lie just offshore. Hiking boots are the best choice as it is steep and rocky in places. This trail is about 5 km in length and you should allow at least 2 hours to complete it. The Trail head is at N49 41.275 W054 48.105. A shorter route would be to start in Sleepy Cove or take Lower Head Road and park just beyond the Artist Cabin in a grassy field. Cache is a camouflaged container similar to some pill bottles, press to unscrew. Log is in a container inside the smaller pill bottle in cache, tweezers would be an asset to remove log. Remember - the decision to search for any geocache and the responsibility for your own safety lies with you.
