Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series that brings cachers to some random historical locations that are hidden amongst the urban sprawl that is the Greater Toronto area. Often, these historic buildings get surrounded by new developments, apartments and office towers - people forget they are even there. Then one day you are driving along and BANG you find a random historical building in the middle of 1960's apartments or post-war bungalows. Enjoy some of these hidden gems.

This cache will bring you to the Church of St Jude’s Scarborough – built in 1848 it is the 5th oldest church in the city (it is a contemporary of some of the gothic revival churches of downtown) and the oldest outside of the downtown core still in its original location without any additions. This small church was once part of the village of Wexford but the city expanded to envelope it. Rather than demolish the smaller church when the surrounding community grew in the 50’s and 60’s, the patrons just built a new larger church on the same site and kept the little one for special events. I love how so many people don’t even know this historic church is set back up here on the hill. Drive by and you almost miss the gates and cemetery entrance.

The cache is a micro container so bring your own pen. Use stealth to ensure the cache remains for other cachers to visit.

UPDATE - OCT 2017 Cache has been replaced in the same "location" but in a different way so we have increased the difficulty rating. We have also added a hint. Please make sure to replace the cache in the same way you found it not just drop it in the same area.
