According to my research ; the library is open to the public on the third Sunday in every month ...when the local Village Market is on .
So I hope to see the inside of it on June 18th plus visit the market ....And maybe the cafes around here !
It is so famous , it was even mentioned in a BBC Documentary on tiny book-lending institutions ....
It is only 21 m sqare ...and originally constructed in 1911. However the date on the building reads Est 1865...but I think it began in someone's private home originally ....according to a History of Kaukapakapa I read recently .
Another local icon you will notice is Dye's Slaughterhouse ....along the road ...on the verge of toppling over . Many people are keen to see it made structurally sound , as a historic landmark from the early settlers time .
Cache is under corner of library ...not GL ..but balanced ....room for toys and tbs ...small sandwich box size .
