The Jamestown Buffalo Herd Winter Pasture
This cache is placed near the winter pasture for the Jamestown Buffalo Herd where the white buffalo, Dakota Miracle can be seen grazing along with another 20 to 30 head of buffalo. Dakota Miracle was born August 31, 2007, his mother, White Cloud was a true albino buffalo and is considered sacred to some Native Americans. Sadly, White Cloud passed away on November 14th, 2016.
During the tourist season from around Memorial Day through Labor Day, the buffalo herd can be seen in the pasture around the Frontier Village and the National Buffalo Museum. Sometime after Labor Day, the herd is moved to this pasture for the winter.
Often times especially on the nicer winter days, there are cars parked around this area where people pull in to watch the buffalo roam and eat their lunch.
Permission was granted by the National Buffalo Museum Executive Director to place this cache.
